About the Tour
Since its inception in 2017, the Faculty Community Engagement Tour has helped facilitate research, external funding opportunities and quality experiential learning opportunities for our students while helping to address quality-of-life issues in Alabama as identified by our community partners.
The tour engages faculty, as well as staff and advanced graduate students with an interest in community-engaged scholarship, in three, day-long tours of West Alabama and the Alabama Black Belt region. Travelers have opportunities to develop innovative partnerships with community members and other campus researchers interested in community-based approaches to addressing community needs. Those who are involved in or interested in research that contributes to their discipline while making a positive impact on external stakeholders in our communities should participate.
The Faculty Community Engagement Tour is a collaborative initiative among the Office of Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, the Division for Research, the Council on Community-Based Partnerships, the Center for Community-Based Partnerships and the Division of Community Affairs.
There is no cost to participate in the Faculty Community Engagement Tour. If you need to cancel for any reason, we request that you do so within 48 hours of your scheduled tour.
